Fixes and improvements (pre-alpha.0.8.1)

This update brings various improvements to various systems as well as some bug fixes. Full changelog below.

  • Added shield skill. Only classes with the shield skill can equip shields now.
  • Added armor type to armor equipment (light, medium, heavy). Added restrictions to character classes that determine which armor types they can equip. The armor type of armor equipment can be seen by right clicking them.
  • Enemy types now have a max walking distance in a combat turn instead of hardcoded values. The dragon boar enemy can now walk a bit farther than before.
  • Enemies will now do an attack directly after moving towards the party if the distance they moved is less than half of their maximum movement distance.
  • Party members will now recover 2-4% of their maximum stamina after each combat round instead of a fixed amount. Stamina regeneration outside of combat is now also percentage based instead of a fixed value.
  • Messages that appear for a short duration can now be skipped by clicking the message container.
  • Added UI buttons for opening the inventory and skill screen.
  • The schedule movement button has had its text replaced with an image.
  • Skills now default to level 0 instead of 1.
  • Ensured skills can only have a maximum base value of 100.
  • Character classes' primary skill now gets a 25% bonus and their skill is highlighted on the skill screen. Note that not all classes have a primary skill yet as they have not been implemented.
  • Reduced the effectiveness of armor a fair bit. Damage reduction rolls are now based on the average equipment armor class instead of total armor class.
  • Changed how the strength attribute scales damage. Previously each point would grant +3% damage for melee and ranged attacks. For melee attacks, strength now grants +4% for values above 50 and -2% for values below 50. For ranged attacks strength now grants +2% for each point.
  • A skull icon is now displayed instead of HP number for dead party members.
  • Clicking a party member's panel in the main UI while an item is held will now put that item in their personal inventory or the party inventory if the personal inventory is full.
  • Dead party members' target indicators should no longer appear above enemies in combat.
  • Skill level up messages will no longer be shown when manually leveling up skills using skill points.
  • The UI should now properly update the number of unspent attribute and skill points when a party member levels up instead of only doing it when switching the selected party member.
  • Fixed bug where party members would gain stamina after dodging an attack instead of losing stamina.
  • The experience gain message will no longer be shown after combat if no experience was gained, for example when you manually start combat with no enemies nearby.
