Consumable items and much more (pre-alpha.0.7.0)


I'm back with another update! This update brings a new item type: consumables. For now only one consumable item is available, namely the Small Healing Potion. More stuff will be added in future updates.

This update also includes a bunch of updates to player statistics and attributes and takes some steps towards implementing character classes properly. Still of bunch of ways to go, though.

Full changelog below.

  • Implemented consumable items. Added new item: Small Healing Potion. Consumables can be used by going to the inventory and clicking the use item button and then clicking a consumable item.
  • Got started on implementing character classes. Party members's class name is now based on their class instead of hardcoded strings.
  • Interactable objects can now require a specific item in order to activate. Try it out in the testing grounds!
  • Added movable platforms that can be tried out in the testing grounds.
  • Party member's stamina will now drain when performing attacks and being attacked and while sprinting around. Having lower stamina will affect how well the party members perform in combat. Stamina recovers over time or after each turn in combat.
  • Party members' health now scales with their endurance attribute instead of hardcoded values. Different character classes have different health scaling values. Health will also scale with level in the future once that has been implemented. For now, characters are assumed to be level 1.
  • Party members' stamina now scales with endurance and strength instead of hardcoded values.
  • Party members' mana now scales with intelligence instead of hardcoded values.
  • Added support for attribute point bonuses on equipment. As a test, the breastplate item will now grant 5 bonus points to all attributes.
  • Added support for attribute point requirements on items. As a test, the cape item now requires 60 dexterity to equip. Items that a character can't equip now has a red background on the inventory screen.
  • Improved the UI on top of the inventory screen, particularly the UI elements for the attribute points.
  • Clicking an item stack in the inventory while holding shift will now pick up a single item from the stack.
  • Fixed error that could cause combat to be engaged by enemies on the other side of a wall.
  • Fixed being unable to merge together stacks of items in the party inventory.
